Tonight was Aubree's 1st grade performance. All of the 1st grade classes in her school recited a poem and sang a few really cute songs they learned in music. Aubree has been so excited about this since they started learning the songs and the poem. For the last month she kept reminding me that I can't work on April 30th because she didn't want me to miss her performance. Last year she did not even want us there and was hiding the entire time, so it surprised me that she was excited about it and wanted us all there watching. She even agreed that we could video her. She has been practicing her poem around the house and so I pretty much had it memorized. Here is the poem . . .
Our family comes
From many homes,
Our hair is straight,
Our hair is brown,
Our hair is curled,
Our eyes are blue,
Our skins are different
Colors, too.
From many homes,
Our hair is straight,
Our hair is brown,
Our hair is curled,
Our eyes are blue,
Our skins are different
Colors, too.
We're girls and boys,
We're big and small,
We're young and old,
We're short and tall.
We're everything
That we can be
And still we are
A family.
We're big and small,
We're young and old,
We're short and tall.
We're everything
That we can be
And still we are
A family.
We laugh and cry,
We work and play,
We help each other
Every day.
The world's a lovely
Place to be
Because we are
A family.
We work and play,
We help each other
Every day.
The world's a lovely
Place to be
Because we are
A family.
They were told to wear "Sunday best" and Aubree really wanted to wear the white dress that Grandma got her. Aubree was very confident on stage and was not shy at all. After the performance we took some pictures of her with some of her friends and got some ice cream.
