Aaron had his eye muscle surgery on May 17th. He has strabismus (lazy eye). His eyes turn in (mainly his right).
Here are two before pictures.

The opthalmologist said that having the surgery will help not only the appearance of the eye, but also can help with his depth perception.
Here we are waiting to send him off to his surgery.
The next time we saw him was not so fun though!
He was waking up from anesthesia and was holding his breath for what seem like a really long time. I was starting to get nervous and it seemed like the nurses were as well. When he started breathing he screamed and cried for about an hour and half afterward and most of that was in the car on the way home. He never opened his eyes, but the bloody tears kept flowing , and he kept saying his eyes burned. I felt so sad and my heart ached! He told us he wanted to eat Reese's Puffs cereal and so we stopped on the way home to get it. He finally fell asleep right before we got home. He woke up as Neil was carrying him in and so he got to eat his cereal. After that we all took a much needed nap. That was so emotionally exhausting for all of us! He seemed fine after the nap though. He seemed more like himself and even wanted to go ride his bike that night.
Here he is a few days after the surgery. The inside corners of both eyes were very red and he cried bloody tears the first day. We had to put ointment in his eyes four times a day for 2 weeks and he could not get his eyes wet for 2 weeks also.
We are hoping the picture below is not the final result (otherwise I think we are worse off). The eye should eventually adjust to be more in the center. They over-adjust (make it turn out a little-as seen in the below picture) and then it should eventually align correctly. His right eye is not normally closed like it is in this picture though. Just showing the eye alignment here.
This photo was taken 3 weeks after surgery. We are hoping that it will adjust and align perfectly so we do not have to go through all that again! We should know the final result in about one more month. This sure is one sweet little boy!!!!
