We put up our Christmas tree the day before Thanksgiving this year. While sipping peppermint hot cocoa, we all enjoyed pulling out all of the ornaments and reminiscing. Grandma (my mom) always gives the kids a fun ornament every year with their name and date on it. We loved unwrapping each ornament from the tissue paper and hanging it on the tree. The magic of Christmas is starting already. The tree looked gorgeous all lit up and shining.
After we decorated the tree we read the book Christmas Oranges
(one of my favorites and now the kids' favorite) . . .
And then we all ate a yummy orange.
They were eating it as though it were their first orange
and they said it was the best orange they have ever tasted.
The were describing the taste and were very grateful for it.
The power of a great book (it made them really appreciate it).

The kids in front of the tree (I'm surprised they actually cooperated for this)
Again, the power of a great book.
They had the Christmas spirit.
